Park and recreational bonds have played a significant role in shaping many of the Houston region's most successful master-planned communities, giving developers a way to invest in parks, trails, and open spaces that enhance quality of life while adding long-term value for residents.

In a recent Bisnow feature, ABHR Partner Steve Robinson discusses the firm's role in helping establish the legal framework for park and recreational bonds in the Houston region. Robinson explains that these bonds have allowed communities to create public amenities that may not have otherwise been financially feasible while ensuring they remain accessible to everyone.

The article highlights Cinco Ranch as one example of their impact. After the community's initial development, voters approved $30 million in park and recreational bonds to fund a 30-acre recreation park, a large lake, outdoor gathering spaces, and more than 30 miles of trails—investments that helped revitalize the community and make it feel like a new development decades after it was first built.

As interest grows in bringing similar legislation to North Texas, Robinson and other industry leaders discuss how park and recreational bonds could help developers create stronger, more connected communities while supporting affordable housing and encouraging long-term economic growth
